Descriptive Text

Descriptive text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place or thing. 

Teks Deskriptif yaitu teks yang menjelaskan gambaran seseorang atau benda. Tujuannya adalah untuk menggambarkan atau mengungkapkan orang, tempat atau benda tertentu. 

Bisa dikatakan juga bahwa Descriptive text adalah teks yang menjelaskan tentang seperti apakah orang atau benda yang dideskripsikan, baik bentuknya, sifat-sifatnya, jumlahnya dan lain-lain.

Struktur Descriptive Text (generic structure) adalah :

1. Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan , berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu topik.

2.Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau orang yang dideskripsikan.

Ciri-ciri Descriptive Text :

- Menggunakan simple present tense 

- Menggunakan attribute verb, seperti be (am, is, are) 

- Hanya fokus pada satu objek tersebut.

Example of descriptive text :

1.       Descriptive text about My Idol

I have an idol. His name is Rafael. His full name is Rafael Landry Tanubrata. He is an singer and member of a boyband. The name of his boyband is SMASH. He is born on November 16, 1986 in Garut. He is tall and slim. . He has a short black hair, pointed nose, white skin, and brown eyes. His weight is 68 kg and his height is 178 cm. He is about 27 years old.

Rafael is a friendly, calm, patient, funny, and chatty. His hobby is watching movies the cinema. His dream is to become a legendary entertainer and a role model many people.
